Rodborough Fort

 

 

Rodborough fort was originally an inhabited folly  built around 1761 by a gentlemen named George  Hawker.   It was a single-story  5 bay gothic building built on Rodborough Common.  There were also a number of cannon which  stood  on a bastion.  The property has been owned by several people over the years and in 1869 the then owner Alexander Halcombe had the property rebuilt as a tudor house with a tower at its entrance and surrounded by a  defensive wall with gateways.
